Yarn Care Symbols on Yarn Labels – August 2020

I have been asked quite a bit lately what all the care symbols on the yarn labels mean—particularly as to whether something should be washed by hand.  There are many different charts out there, however I found the most comprehensive one was that prepared by Knitting Fever.

If you are gifting items, remember to include the care details, so they get the best out of them.  A handy hint someone gave me—particularly with baby and children’s items—add a washing bag to your gift for the items to be washed in, thereby preserving their life.
