Please welcome our newest Leather Doctor to our New Zealand team – Jodie. She will operate The Leather Doctor Hamilton and Tauranga territories on the North Island.
We spoke to her about her reasons for joining The Leather Doctor and what she hopes to achieve with the business.
Here’s what she had to say…
What was it that attracted you to join The Leather Doctor business?
I have been a successful Timber Doctor for 5 years in Aus but needed to move back to NZ. I don’t know if it was perfect timing of good old fashion luck, but new franchises were opening in NZ, so We purchased 2 territories in the North Island.
What did you do prior to becoming a Leather Doctor?
I was a Timber Doctor on the Gold Coast for 5 years.
What territory will you manage?
We will be operating the Tauranga and Hamilton areas in the North Island.
What do you hope to achieve during your time as a Leather Doctor?
I’m excited to learn a new skills with the Leather and Fabric dr side of the business.
I hope to be able to make it a family business with my sons and Husband being a part of it.
What was it about The Leather Doctor franchise that appealed to you (so that you purchased)?
I was interested in being able to work in all three expertise areas and building my skill set up (across the three Timber, Leather and Fabric Dr brands).
I love working with my hands, so this is the perfect job for me.
What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase a franchise?
Do your homework! If everything aligns…..take the leap! I do not regret it.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I love anything art! Photography, painting, graphics, sculpture….
Describe your ideal weekend?
Sleeping in, swim at the beach, Gym session, BBQ at sunset with family and friends.

Hi there, we have high back dining chairs (vinyl) 7 years old. Chrome frame in perfect condition but vinyl worn on corners of high back. We wondered if the back could be shortened thus cutting off damaged vinyl . Is there an address where we could bring chairs for your guidance.
Good day, I have an old leather rugby ball that I would like to get repaired. Only a small section needs to be restitched and a new bladder needs to be installed. Is this something that you would be able to assist with or know someone that can assist?
Hello, I have a leather bag that needs glueing and re-stitching in a couple of places. Is this something that you could do? Approximate cost?
Thanks, Marion
Hi there, I’m looking for someone who is able to extend the leather strap on my handbag to make it fit as a cross body. How do I find you in Hamilton so that I’m able to bring in the bag? Many thanks, Tammara
I have a ‘L’ shaped tear on the back of my Italian Leather Jacket. I don’t know how I did it but can I get it repaired in Tauranga. If so how long would it take to get repaired and roughly at what cost. The tear is about 50mm x 50mm. I don’t work on Fridays so could bring it to Tauranga then.
