Welcome to July.\u00a0 Did you get to see some of the marvellous creative beanies at the Alice Springs Beanie Festival?\u00a0 If not, check out the winners and special mentions for this years theme – heart of hearts here.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This month of course we see more creative talent on show at the Warwick Jumpers and Jazz<\/a> <\/span><\/span>from the 21st to the 31st of July.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of the month you will be able to see us at our first Craft Alive event for the year in Morayfield.\u00a0 \u00a0Tickets are now on sale – buy online and save here.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/a><\/span><\/span>We aren’t doing any classes, but we will have a vast array of kits, yarns, patterns and hooks available – or just drop in to say hello!\u00a0 29 – 31st July.<\/p>\n

\"\"We’ve got some exciting new things in store this month which you can see in our new section – Homespun Crochet Issue 3 is out and includes my toadstool pattern – a fun crochet project.<\/p>\n

We have the beginnings of Christmas starting to appear – after all, the good things take time to make – and the new pattern and kit from Live Love Crochet Shaz will make anyone smile and enjoy preparing it.\u00a0 To go with this we have a special Christmas Preparation section helping you with early planning!<\/p>\n

Do you know someone who would love to learn to crochet?\u00a0 Did you know we teach crochet?\u00a0 Regular instore classes to teach crochet are held every Tuesday afternoon.\u00a0 We also offer online classes at mutually agreed times.\u00a0 With the school holidays on we are also holding school holiday classes<\/a><\/span> –<\/span> Wednesday 6th July.\u00a0 For kids or adults alike.<\/p>\n

Theme\u2014Getting the Edge<\/h2>\n

This month is all about Edgings. The perfect edging to frame your work is one of the most important decisions you can make. With such a huge variety of patterns to choose from you want something that is going to act like an art frame to highlight your beautiful work.<\/p>\n

Edgings can be used on so many crochet, knitting or tatting projects. They can even be used to create that feature on a hem of clothing, a pretty neckline on a top or jumper, a feature panel in your work or even a pretty embellishment to take that blanket or item of clothing to the next level.\u00a0 See Adding Borders to Afghans<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span> for some useful hints and tips for adding these finishing touches.<\/p>\n

Crochet, knitting or tatting edgings are not just limited to your work, they can be added to an existing blanket for that personal touch, tea towels to create a fancy hand towel for your kitchen or bathroom, personalise a cotton handkerchief or decorate a face washer and hand towel to create a gorgeous gift set. I\u2019ve seen cotton lacy edgings added to plush blankets to create a Boho finish and feel. The choices and ideas are endless.<\/p>\n

We have a great variety of books and patterns to suit all designs from fine threads to chunky yarns. Along with a wide assortment of threads and yarns perfect to use for any form of edging.\u00a0 And there is a fabulous selection of new books in this area!<\/p>\n

Some of the tools you may need to make your edging efforts a little easier is the Edgit Tool and these come with a pretty edgings pattern book and a fine hook. Not to mention we have hooks in all shapes and sizes along with knitting needles, tatting shuttles and bobbins.<\/p>\n
